65th of Foot Glengarry Pre Territorial Glengarry Badge 1874 to 1881

Made from one solid piece of brass, a strap with the words ‘Second Yorkshire North Riding’ surmounted by a crown. In the solid centre of the strap is the Royal Tiger standing on ground above the number.

Although the York and Lancaster Regimental Museum has an example of this badge in its collection, its purpose is not known. It could be speculated that it was made for a specific (unknown) purpose, a manufacturers error in that it is not fully stamped out or one of the Fox copies made in the early 1900's.
