Type 16 Other Ranks Badge.
This pattern of badge has only one small sweat hole behind the Rose which would suggest a particular makers variation.
This example has a slider which has a ‘crimp’ mark made during the process of the slider being bent at a right angle.
The tapering nature of the slider and the flat face of the tiger are good identifying features that date this example to early or pre WW1.
Examples of this type of badge have been excavated from WW1 trenches from the 1915 battles in Ypres which were occupied by members of the 1/4th and 1/5th (Territorial) Battalions.
