On a coloured rosette is a round plate of gilt with the regimental device, the Union Rose in silver. Above the Rose is the battle honour ‘Peninsula’, below the Rose is the number 84 and a laurel wreath all in silver.
On the rosette beneath the plate is a silver scroll with the words ‘York and Lancaster’. Above the rosette are scales and a stringed bugle. The bugle, along with a green feather plume, indicate that this is a shako of an Officer of a Light Infantry Company.
